Beach day necessities

A beach day is something I dream about during those long, cold Columbus, Ohio winters. When I return home to Long Island for the summers, you will most definitely find me on the beach every weekend. The beach may be my favorite place on Earth. Put me on a beach, any beach, and I will be so happy. However, if you want your beach day to be perfect I have some suggestions for you.

Bring a hat. And I hope I don’t have to say it but sunscreen as well. We have already established that I love the beach very much, which from that you could guess I love the sun just as much. However, sunscreen and a hat are the two fundamentals for an enjoyable beach day. You never know if it will be too hot or if you will need some shade from the strong sun of a summer day. I love the sun to a point and most of the time a hat really saves the day.

Lots of water. This point kind of piggybacks off my last one. The sun is strong and you will probably be sitting out for a while, which means you need to keep hydrated.

Fresh fruit and other yummy snacks. I love to pick up a good deli sandwich on my way to the beach and I usually pack some fruit in a cooler to go with me as well. Fresh fruit on the beach is so refreshing, trust me.

A fun game to play. Kadima and corn hole are my two favorite go-to beach games. You can order a collapsable corn hole, which makes carrying it to the beach very easy and fun. When you get tired of sitting in the sun or swimming in the ocean, playing some games is a great activity.

A good book. A good book is always the answer. Bring a book, pick a nice spot, and you can just sit and read for hours. I promise you will leave the beach way more relaxed than when you got there.

Make a beach playlist. The key to a perfect beach day is a speaker and a great playlist. Pick your favorite songs, ones that are fun or relaxing, and it will make your day to listen to them by the ocean.
