My Favorite Books This Month

Since the start of “quarantine”, I have spent much of my newly found free time reading. I have always been a big reader and I love to find myself lost in a book so good that I forget where I am or what time it is. To me, nothing beats that feeling. Not even the best new Netflix show, but we can debate about that another time. I have decided to share with you my five favorite books right now in hopes that you too will read them and find some peace and joy during these trying times.

  1. Verity By Colleen Hoover

Verity means “a true principle or belief, especially one of fundamental importance.” and this book makes you decide, completely on your own, what you believe to be true and what you think is false. This psychological, romance thriller is one that you will not put down until you have come to a conclusion that satisfies you. It is definitely a novel that needs to be read at a time like this when you all you need is entertainment and to get lost in something other than your own reality.

  2. Untamed By Glennon Doyle

Glennon Doyle has written a masterpiece of a memoir that needs to be read by all women everywhere. She delves so deeply and intimately into her own life that you feel as though you know her and you want to strive to live your life as free as she does. It is the most empowering book I have ever read, one that I folded down certain pages and went back to read again to make sure I truly absorbed her advice.

  3. It Ends With Us By Colleen Hoover

Well, by now you can sense the theme that is occurring here…I am indeed obsessed with Colleen Hoover’s novels. She is a brilliant and talented writer and frankly, I am upset I am just now reading all of her books. This one had me in tears by the end and I love to cry at good books and good movies more than the next person so please just read this incredible, heartbreaking yet heartwarming love story with a deep message.

  4. Normal People By Sally Rooney

If you do not already know, Normal People has been made into a new TV series. However, I have not watched it and at this time I do not think any series could live up to what this book is (with that being said, I obviously need to check). It is exactly what the reviews say, a “stunning novel about the transformative power of relationships”. A different type of story about two teens finding their footing in adult life and their own personal relationships that will completely capture you.

  5. November Nine By Colleen Hoover

Oh, are you surprised? Another Colleen Hoover book, my bad. I did not put this one down for two days until I finished it and it was definitely worth it. An interesting love story that follows the journey of two “star-crossed lovers” trying to find their way back to each other each year as if no time has passed when they are apart.
